What is the BIG RED BBQ?
The BIG RED BBQ is based on an Australian icon, the barbeque. Barbeques are great opportunities to bring family and friends together to create and share fantastic memories. It is this in mind that Kidney Health Australia developed the BIG RED BBQ, to give everyone the chance to get their family and friends together to have fun, but to raise funds and awareness of kidney disease. So hold your own barbeque and by making people aware that kidney disease is a silent killer, you never know whose life you may save.
 
How can I get involved?
  1. Plan and host a barbeque and invite all your family and friends.
  2. Register your BIG RED BBQ online or by phone (see next question)
How do I register?
You can register two ways:
  1. Online - at www.bigredbbq.com.au, click on the “Register Now” button and fill in your details.
  2. Phone – phone 1800 4 KIDNEY (1800 454 3639) and our friendly staff will register your details

How do I create my own fundraising page?

You can create your own fundraising page through our Everyday Hero page where you can upload videos and photos and send the link out to all your friends who can't make your BBQ or wish to donate earlier.

When is the BIG RED BBQ?
The BIG RED BBQ will run from 1 September 2009 to 28 February 2010. You must get your donations in by February 28 2009 as the competition will be drawn on 4 March 2010.
 
How do I enter competitions and when do they run?
Each person will receive one (1) entry into the prize draw for every $50 they raise or donate. Once a person has held a barbeque, they must donate their money to be eligible to enter the price draw. This encourages people to hold barbeques and the more money they raise the more chances they have to win.*
 
How do I collect money?
You can hold a barbeque and charge an entry fee or simply as your friends and family to donate on the day. Once you receive all the money you can donate it to Kidney Health Australia (see next question)
 
How do I donate?
You can donate the money your raise 5 ways:
  1. Online
  2. Credit card – phone/mail
  3. Bpay
  4. Direct Debit
  5. Money Order / Cheque – please make payable to Kidney Health Australia

How can i promote my BIG RED BBQ in the media?

You can promote your own BIG RED BBQ through your local paper. Download our Media Kit and follow our step by step instructions and be seen by your whole community!

How many people can attend my BIG RED BBQ?
You can have as many people as you wish at your barbeque, the more you invite, the more money you will raise and the more fun you will have.
 
How can I access the promotional material?
You can download a promotional pack at www.bigredbbq.com.au. Click on the “Download Material” button up the top. You can download it as a pack or as single document. Documents include:
  • Posters
  • Invitations
  • Flyers
  • Reconciliation forms
  • Receipt register
Alternatively you can call 1800 4 KIDNEY (1800 454 3639) and request that a BIG RED BBQ pack be sent to you.
 
How can I get recipes?
All recipes can be downloaded at www.bigredbbq.com.au. Click on the “Healthy BBQ Recipes” button and you will be taken to a list of beautiful healthy recipes to download.
 
Click on the name of the recipe you want and it will automatically download. From there you can print it off or read off the screen.
 
How can I get more information about kidney disease?
For more information about kidney disease, please visit www.kidney.org.au and click on the Kidney Health Information button or call toll free 1800 4 KIDNEY, that’s 1800 454 3639.
 
What if I do not have an email address?
If you do not have an email address that’s fine, just call 1800 4 KIDNEY (1800 454 3639 and we will register you over the phone, and send you’re your registration number and pack via mail.
 
What if I do not have a barbeque?

If you do not own a barbeque, you can encourage your friends to hold a barbeque and donate. Alternatively you can still entertain your family and friends at your home and raise money and awareness.
